Looped screenings on March 22 and 23, 3:00-7:00PM

AlbumArte, via Flaminia 122 Roma | Free entrance

On March 21, 2019 at 7:00PM AlbumArte will inaugurate the third of five appointments of the new series of screenings of artistic films and videos AlbumArte | VideoArtForum, all of which will be held at Albumarte’s exhibition space in Via Flaminia (Rome).
John Cascone is the protagonist of the first appointment; the video-forum will be introduced by the curator Gianluca Brogna.

Visual artist whose activities have been focusing on performance languages in the last few years, John Cascone uses video as documentation instrument of his conceptual research. The image is used as tool to recount a reconnaissance mainly addressed to the reification of the immaterial. The “lexicon” with which he builds his images is akin to the research tools of the sociological and demo-ethno-anthropological sciences or the result of a survey that relates the communities and groups with questions concerning language, identity and the memory. During the conversation with Gianluca Brogna, the artist will exhibit some videos explaining the phases of his research.

Since 2016, AlbumArte | VideoArtForum – directed by Cristina Cobianchi and coordinated by Valentina Fiore – has presented Italian and international artists and curators both from Italy and aborad. The project confirms the ongoing interest of AlbumArte in the field of video art, an expressive medium with which the association has been involved ever since it was founded in 2011, thanks to a series of initiatives of screening and video art exhibitions both in Italy and abroad, defining its investigation of this particular area of artistic creation as one of the most significant.
