Last July, AlbumArte won the 8th edition of the Italian Council with an editorial project titled ALL BOOM ARTE. Italian Artists at AlbumArte 2011 – 2020, that will be published by Quodlibet publishing house in the Spring of 2021.
On Wednesday November 18th, 2020 from 5:30 pm, as part of the collateral activities to the Quadriennale d’Arte 2020, AlbumArte presents in the Sala Cinema of Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome, the editorial project ALL BOOM ARTE. Italian Artists at AlbumArte 2011 – 2020, curated by Cristina Cobianchi (Quodlibet, 2021), supported by the Italian Council (8th Edition, 2020) program to promote Italian contemporary art in the world by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism.
The publication will be an ensemble of texts and images that will present, also to the international public, a group of artists who actively participate in a programme of exhibitions and in-depth studies carried out within AlbumArte on various topics of the contemporary, thus fueling the energy of an independent non-profit space, which over time has become a dynamic and inclusive platform. The selected artists and curators have managed to build over time a community and form a network of intellectual exchanges and opportunities for work, connection and research. An phenomenon still in progress, which has involved and continues to involve dozens of artists, including many female artists.
An important part of the book will be dedicated to sixteen unpublished conversations between the artists and the curators of AlbumArte with texts by: Gianluca Brogna with Grossi Maglioni, Benedetta Carpi De Resmini with Cosimo Veneziano, Anna Cestelli Guidi with Iginio De Luca, Daniela Cotimbo with Sonia Andresano, Elisa Del Prete with Angelo Bellobono, Raffaele Gavarro with Sandro Mele, Silvano Manganaro with Zaelia Bishop, Magherita Moscardini with Cristina Cobianchi, Manuela Pacella with Elena Bellantoni, Claudio Libero Pisano with Delphine Valli, Adriana Polveroni with Francesco Jodice, Marta Silvi with Dario Agati and Fabio Giorgi Alberti, Marco Trulli with Anna Raimondo, Paola Ugolini with Silvia Giambrone and Romina Bassu, Vittorio Urbani with Flavio Favelli, Saverio Verini with Sabrina Casadei and Alessandro Giannì.
The volume will be divided into various sections that will better illustrate the context of AlbumArte’s research from 2011 to 2020: Italian artists abroad with AlbumArte and the project Anteprima (2011- 2014), AlbumArte | VideoArtForum (2016 – ongoing), Performances, the project Donne (non più) anonime – confronto sul femminicidio, and a chapter dedicated to the exhibitions with images and the critical texts of their curators.
We are happy that Palaexpo, one of our cultural Partners, has invited us to present the project and the pubblication at Palazzo delle Esposizioni during the 17th edition of the Quadriennale of Rome. We are honoured that Umberto Croppi, president of the Quadriennale Foundation of Rome, and Cesare Pietroiusti, president of the special company PALAEXPO, are introducing the event where Adriana Polveroni, art critic, journalist, and member of the scientific committee of AlbumArte, Cosimo Veneziano and Grossi Maglioni (Francesca Grossi and Vera Maglioni), artists, together with Cristina Cobianchi curator of the volume, will explain the contents and the intentions of the book.
Once published, the book will be presented in Italy (for the first time at MAXXI) and in other six organisation aboard, always taking place with the presences of one of the artists and often combined with a parallel artistic event realised by the hosting institution: National Gallery of Art, Vilnius; Art House, Scutari; Bn Project, Bruxelles; Dimora OZ, Palermo, Golden Thread Gallery, Belfast; LE 18, Marrakech; PILOT, Bratislava.
